In Spring Grove, we are actually able to get almost 100 free cable channels with our antenna. However, some of them are duplicated. For example, we have several FOX channels, but they are all from different affiliates. While the main blockbuster shows are all the same, news, local sports, and other weekend/weekday programming can be different.

Subchannels, as they are sometimes called, are a great way to stay-up-date on what’s happening in your direct community as well as regionally. Each FOX channel offers their own unique, niche content that you wouldn’t have the option to see on through a regular cable TV package.

Number of Channels Depends on Your Cable Antenna

Like anything in life, you sometimes get what you pay for. This can definitely be said about TV antennas. If you’re out in a more rural area, you might need a larger and more expensive antenna to get all the channels possible. However, if you are happy with the main, hyper-local stations where you only potentially get a few dozen, you can absolutely get a less expensive antenna that doesn’t reach as far.
